Brotherhood stars Mauricio Martínez and Casey Elliott join writer and director Ross Boothe on That Nashville Girl.
It’s easy to imagine you’d stand up for someone. But when the moment comes—and speaking up might make things uncomfortable—would you?
Brotherhood stars Mauricio Martínez and Casey Elliott join writer and director Ross Boothe on That Nashville Girl for an emotional, honest conversation about immigration, belonging, and what loving your neighbor actually asks of you.
Their new film, Brotherhood: A Cinematic Musical, follows two neighbors and their families as they learn to see beyond assumptions and show up for each other. One scene gets right to the heart of this conversation: a child stays silent when a friend is targeted, then challenges whether his own father would have done anything differently. It’s a moment that leaves Amanda asking the same question of herself.
Ross shares the heartbreaking video that moved him to write the movie and the Mexican immigrant families whose kindness shaped his life. Mauricio opens up about finding this role after losing his sister and facing cancer for the fifth time, bringing his Mexican heritage to the screen, and why portraying his community with dignity matters. Casey reflects on the moments when saying nothing feels easier—and why being a good neighbor sometimes starts with an uncomfortable conversation.
There are tears, there’s laughter, and there’s a surprisingly funny casting story that Mauricio’s team initially thought might be a scam. Through it all, these three men make a powerful case for getting curious, asking questions, and caring enough to do something.
