There is a lot happening in Nashville this summer. But if I had to tell you to put one thing on your calendar right now — just one — it’s Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. And once you hear what this show actually is, you’ll understand why.
It’s not a tribute concert and it’s not a biopic. It’s a full multimedia experience — Dolly on screen, telling her own stories and leading you through her music, while the Nashville Symphony performs brand new live orchestrations. “Jolene.” “Coat of Many Colors.” “I Will Always Love You.” Personal favorites. Plus a never-before-heard song from her upcoming Broadway musical.
In Dolly’s own words:
“The threads of my life are woven together through my songs. It’s all about sharing my music and my musical journey with audiences in a new way.”
Did I Get A Speeding Ticket Because of Dolly?
We all love Dolly. She connects people in a way very few artists ever have. She reminds us to love everyone. She shows up for people. And her music has a way of sneaking into the best and most ridiculous moments of your life.
For me, Dolly has always been a constant in my playlists and as a soundtrack for my life. I used to sing “I Will Always Love You” at the top of my lungs in my room with a hairdryer as a microphone.
As I got older, “9 to 5” became my go-to karaoke song when I needed a guaranteed good time.
And I will fully admit that I once got pulled over for accidentally speeding because I was so intensely singing along to “Here You Come Again” that I completely lost track of how fast I was going. Thankfully, the officer was also a Dolly fan and understood my passion.
We all have these moments when Dolly has been woven into the threads (pun intended) of our own lives. And I can’t wait to experience my love for Dolly with others who believe that Dolly just makes the world a better place.

Girls’ night. Family night. Tourist night. Yes to all of it.
This is one of those rare shows that genuinely works for any occasion. Planning a girls’ night that feels a little elevated this summer? Done. Looking for a family night out the kids will actually remember? The Nashville Symphony has family packs available.
Visiting Nashville and want something beyond Broadway? The Schermerhorn is one of the most beautiful venues in this city, and Threads is the perfect reason to finally walk through those doors.
You don’t need to be a symphony person. You just need to love Dolly.
That Nashville Girl is in on this one.
I am so excited to be partnering with the Nashville Symphony around this show. Starting June 18th, I’m releasing three podcast episodes featuring three artists who each share what Dolly’s music has meant to them — and each one performs a Dolly song. These conversations are something special, and they’re the perfect companion to the show.
Kat Luna — June 18th. Hollye B — June 23rd. Candi Jenkins — June 25th.
Subscribe to That Nashville Girl on YouTube to watch these amazing episodes that were recorded at the Symphony Concert Hall.
Don’t wait. Get your tickets and enjoy a night of beautiful music and connection with other Dolly fans. You are certain to leave with a smile on your face (and a song in your heart).
