There’s a new must try spot in 12 South! And this isn’t just “good Mexican.” This is Mexico City, right here in Nashville!
There’s a new must try spot in 12 South! And this isn’t just “good Mexican.”
This is Mexico City, right here in Nashville – authentic, delicious, and fun!
And if the name sounds familiar, it should. Chef and Owner Max Adler has already built a following at the Nashville Farmers Market. But this? This is the next level. This is what happens when you take something people already love and give it a full experience to match.
So let’s get into what to order and why you’ll love every moment.
You start with the guacamole. Obviously. It’s magical. I’m not sure how they do it, but it’s the kind that makes you pause after the first bite. It’s fresh, perfectly balanced, and somehow better than any guacamole has a right to be.
And this is where things get serious. Tacos. 3 different options, all on perfect blue corn tortillas. Order them all. Seriously.
Let’s start with the one you might not think about immediately when you look at the menu.
Because we’re not used to thinking about zucchini when it comes to tacos. Ofelia’s will change your mind with one bite.
Then you move to the chicken taco. But this is not your average chicken taco. I actually asked if I could order the chicken in bulk to eat all week—which should tell you everything you need to know.

The prime rib taco? It is melt-in-your-mouth, order-another-round-before-you-finish-your-first level good. And don’t even think about trying tacos without the verde salsa. Out. Of. This. World.
Publix – if you’re reading this, call Max and get this on your fresh shelves immediately! It’s the kind of flavor that sneaks up on you and suddenly you’re putting it on everything at the table and asking to take it home.
The street corn deserves its own moment because it’s that good. Bold, perfectly dressed, and honestly? This might be the dish that makes Max Adler famous in this city. Our group couldn’t stop talking about it – for days!
And don’t skip the cheese quesadilla thinking it’s going to be basic. It’s not your “ordered off the kids’ menu cheese quesadilla.”
Then dessert. Dulce de leche flan with coconut topping – and I’m not being dramatic when I say this is what I’ll be having instead of birthday cake this year. It’s rich, smooth, just sweet enough, and the perfect way to end the meal.

And the drinks?
This is where Ofelia becomes a full-on summer obsession.
The aguas frescas are refreshing, light, and honestly worth stopping in for on their own while you’re walking 12 South.
The margaritas are exactly what you want – fresh squeezed lime, clean, balanced.
But the mezcal hibiscus margarita? She’s a standout! Smoky, slightly sweet, tajín rim… it’s the one you order, then immediately recommend to the table.
And yes, you can get a real Mexican Coke. (As you should.) But here’s the thing about Ofelia – it’s not just the food. It’s the energy.
Live music on the weekends. A patio that’s perfect for people-watching. Tourists walking by, locals settling in, that constant hum of “something’s happening here.”
And the bright colors and Instagram-worthy walls make for a perfect backdrop for your “only in Nashville” photo dump.
It’s fun. It’s social. It’s exactly where you want to be when the weather is good and you don’t have a plan beyond “let’s just go out.”
This is your new summer favorite.
Your “one drink turns into three” spot.
Your casual-but-not-casual dinner.
Your go-to when friends are in town and you want to show them something that they can’t easily find anywhere else.
Order for the table, don’t skip the street corn, and get the mezcal hibiscus margarita. Then get another.
