Barrett Baber is back – and he brought enough stories, honesty and college-era embarrassment to make this the perfect Labor Day Monday episode.

Things go off the rails almost immediately when I surprise Barrett with a long-lost VHS tape from our college days. We’re talking silver pants, frosted tips, double hoops, and a Backstreet Boys performance that probably wasn’t supposed to resurface.

Once we recover, Barrett gets real about the pressure to constantly create content, navigating creative burnout, balancing music with family life, and continuing to show up when inspiration feels harder to find. We also get into John Mayer, learning your worth, running the scoreboard at his son’s football game, and why a video of Barrett mowing the lawn can outperform a beautifully produced song. Oh the joy of promoting our art via social media.

Barrett also takes us inside “One Morning in June” — a raw, spontaneous five-song project featuring Barrett, Dennis Drummond, and Haydel sitting around one microphone and simply making music. It includes the original “Plenty of Something” alongside soulful, stripped-down versions of “A Change Is Gonna Come,” “Rhinestone Cowboy,” “Sara Smile” and “Easy Like Sunday Morning.”

Basically, it’s two old friends, one incriminating VHS tape and a conversation that goes everywhere in the best way.
