What happens when you stop proving yourself—and start choosing yourself?
For Reality Check Tuesday, Meghan Patrick joins me for an emotional and deeply honest conversation about motherhood, healing, and breaking the cycles that shaped her.
After trying to become a mother for more than four years and experiencing a miscarriage, Meghan found out she was pregnant just as her career was reaching a major new level. Her first radio single was climbing the charts; she had earned a coveted spot at CRS New Faces, and an entire headlining tour was already booked.
She was determined to prove she could keep doing it all—until she realized she shouldn’t have to.
Meghan opens up about the difficult decision to step away from touring, the double standard women face when they become mothers and the fear that slowing down could erase everything she had worked so hard to build. She also shares how she is learning that her value doesn’t disappear when she isn’t working, achieving or producing something for someone else.
But this conversation goes even deeper. Meghan talks about surviving domestic violence, ending a toxic relationship with her mother, letting go of the need to explain her choices and becoming the cycle-breaker she believes she was meant to be. As she prepared to welcome her own baby girl, Meghan finally understood why her healing had to come first.
We also talk about the deeply personal story behind her album Golden Child and her powerful new song “I Sure Hope So”—an anthem for anyone who has done the work, changed their life and refuses to apologize for who they’ve become.
Listen to “I Sure Hope So” and Golden Child wherever you stream music.
